Review from October’s webinar on “GreenChill Store Certification Program Overview” – chaired by Keilly Witman.

The mission of GreenChill and of ‘The Store Certification Program’ is to eliminate refrigerant emissions by communicating U.S.A’s retailer’s achievements through award ceremonies, speeches, in store signage, etc.

There is a huge need to find a way to award supermarket and give credit for low-GWP efforts related to refrigeration. Supermarkets have to be recognised for their achievements and consumers need to be made aware of retailers initiatives in using climate friendly commercial refrigeration systems. Nowadays, there is growing trend for consumers to purchase eco-friendly products making it essential for retailers and businesses to communicate and be recognised for its efforts in sustaining our environment. These awards also give employees the recognition they deserve which improves their satisfaction and motivation to work for a sustainable company.

There are three criteria’s that determine if you achieve store certification, based on these objective standards:
  • Refrigerant charge size
  • Refrigerant leak rate or installation leak tightness
  • Type of refrigerants used
