Coming soon: Emerson Climate ammonia Single Screw compressors

Vilter Manufacturing, a business of Emerson Climate Technologies, provides a complete line of industrial refrigeration compressors, including reciprocating and single screw for use with ammonia.

Single screw compressors

The heart of the refrigeration system is the compressor. The Single Screw compressors for cooling applications consist of the VSM and VSS series. They are recognized on the market because of their efficiency, reliability, and flexibility.

For example, the Glacier “total inline freezing and/or chilling solution” offered by UK based Star Refrigeration was built around the Vilter single rotor screw compressor and was highly commended at the 2011 RAC Cooling Industry Awards in the Refrigerant Product of the Year category.

Vilter has also launched the Single Screw VSSH Series for high-pressureheat pump application. These screw compressor units, with frames constructed of cast steel, are capable of operating with ammonia at extremely high condensing temperatures. The heat pump compressors provide a cost effective solution to harnessing and converting heat of rejection to high grade hot water, up to 90°C.

A single screw compressor is a rotary, positive displacement compressor, which incorporates a main screw and two gaterotors. Compression of the gas is accomplished by the engagement of the two gaterotors with the helical grooves in the main screw. The drive shaft imparts rotary motion to the main screw, which in turn drives the intermeshed gaterotors.
